At Bjørn Mathisen Antikviteter we are a third-generation antiques business. Bjørn previously worked at Kaare Berntsen, where he was responsible for folk antiques. In 1986 he and his son Arnstein decided to set up on their own. That is when Bjørn Mathisen ANS was founded.

We deal in Norwegian antiques, with a particular focus on folk antiques. We do not take in everything. What we sell is of the highest quality, from the early 1800s and older. Each antique is assessed on condition and provenance before it gets a place in the shop. We follow up so that you as a customer are happy.

We work with respect for Norwegian history. Each antique should be preserved and bring joy in the time to come, so that our cultural treasures are not forgotten. That is what drives us: the objects, the history, and that you as a customer are happy.

In the 1990s Bjørn Mathisen often appeared in the magazine Hjemmet with articles on antiques. The expertise goes back to childhood. We are often asked about valuations, both by auction houses and private collectors.

Over the years we have furnished a number of cabins, hotels and homes with fine antiques. We take on special commissions when needed, so you can get hold of exactly what you are looking for.
